I hope you are feeling well. Sometimes with all of our efforts to remain healthy throughout the holidays, somehow, someway we get sick.
Many of my clients work in offices where people are transferring germs back and forth and back again.
Three weeks ago, even I got sick. Yes, sometimes I think I am immune. I was so annoyed when I woke up one morning congested, weak, and achy. I could barely stretch, it was bad. I knew I had to take care of it right away. I needed to get back to work and on with my life! I stopped resisting the illness. Resisting was depleting my much needed energy to heal. At the same time, I did not invite the dis-ease know it was not welcome to stay a while.
I want to share with you what WORKED in getting me back to feeling 100 percent quickly.
1. Practicing simple and easy yoga poses. For one I was so stiff, I couldn’t practice anything too intense. Secondly, it would have been counterproductive to overexert myself when my immune system was already compromised. These poses are also great for cold and flu PREVENTION.
-Bridge Pose: Helps govern immunity to colds and flu. If you are really under the weather like I was, grab a few pillows to prop yourself up.
-Reclined Spinal Twist: Gently detoxes and oxygenates your system.
-Legs Up the Wall: Gets blood flowing to areas of the body that need it the most.
2. Chinese Herbs- My acupuncturist made a blend of herbs specific for my stubborn cold.
3. Cupping- An acupuncture therapy where heated glass cups are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy.
4. Sweat it out- I sat in a dry sauna and drank a gallon of water.
5. Lots of Rest- At a certain point, I just had to surrender and sleep more. Of course I did all of the above first. Funny how as adults we resist extra rest. Get over yourself and take a nap:)
