Do you realize how triumphant the human body can be? Hope this note reminds you and inspires you to keep your eyes open. Inspiration can come from anywhere, even in the aisle at Whole Foods.
Friday I went to Whole Foods. I was looking for coconut cream. I went down the aisle and looked where its usually sitting on the shelf.
There were a few people in the aisle standing in the general area of the coconut cream spot. I took a quick glance pass them and didn’t see what I was looking for.
Shoot, did Whole Foods move the coconut cream to a not so obvious section? I had to find someone to help me.
The team member at WF took me right back to where I previously looked, where the two people were standing. They were now on the opposite side of the aisle.
“Oops,” I said, “I thought I looked there, thanks!”
The two people were still standing in the aisle, and the guy asked, “Are you Cindi Lee?” With a little bit of hesitation, I replied, “Yes.”
Let’s say this guys name is Jim to protect his identity. Jim shared that I was one of the last yoga classes he took before he found out he had stage 4 cancer.
My mouth dropped.
He shared his story of how he went through some of the most intense rounds of chemo and other treatments.
The other person standing with Jim was his mom, who came out to LA to literally help bring her son back to life.
Jim said TODAY was the first day he was aloud to go outside without his protective mask on. He has been working hard on building up his immune system. He lost a lot of weight but was getting stronger everyday.
Jim expressed how he couldn’t wait to get back into yoga!
Cleary no coinincidence we ran into one another. Universe was like hey girl, go back to that aisle, there is more than coconut cream there for you!
I’d love to take a moment to thank Jim for graciously sharing his story. What a testimony of how triumphant the human body can be. How beautiful it is to have the support of your mom and team of health professionals.
It takes a village.
Jim’s story inspired me to my core. Hope it inspires you to trust your body and believe its doing its best to give you whole health. Its never too late, even at stage 4.
Thanks for being here. Feel free to pass this along to anyone who needs a reminder that their body and their village is there for them.
Much Love,
Cindi
