L.A. Yoga and Lululemon go hand in hand. I must admit, like many of you, I love my Lululemon! I thought I was a bit obsessed so I even boycotted the stores for a year. However, my desire to align myself with this company was strong and I soon returned. I have been shopping at Lululemon for many years, even before it became as mainstream as it is today. Don’t worry, this article isn’t about yoga clothes. This article is about the amazing yoga community Lululemon has built in the Los Angeles area.
Of course I adore my Lulu because the quality and the fit of the clothing is amazing. The reason I keep going back year after year is because the relationship I have built with the company is mutually beneficial.
The community aspect of Lululemon has connected people of like minds together through yoga, pilates, and other various fitness activities.
Sometimes Lululemon can get a bad wrap because the items in their stores may be pricey for many of us. I used to ask myself, how many paychecks from yoga classes equals this purchase, yikes!
On a serious note, I just heard a woman living in LA say how out of sorts she has felt for the past few years. Listening to this woman actually inspired me to write this article. LA can seem so big and lonely at times. It is easy to get in a rut, resulting in depression. Especially in the Fall season because the days get shorter and the sun sets earlier. The tendency is to hide away and disconnect.
Did you know that Lululemon offers complimentary yoga classes to the public specific days throughout the week? I have heard first hand from several of my students that in this economy, the complimentary yoga classes have assisted them in continuing their yoga practice on a regular basis.
I encourage you to find your local Lululemon store, take a class and maybe buy an outfit that makes you feel good from the inside out (there is NEVER any pressure to make a purchase). While you are there, checkout what else is going on in your community on their bulletin board.
As a yoga instructor, I have had the pleasure of teaching complimentary yoga classes and connecting with many of the Lululemon locations (including Pasadena, Glendale, Sherman Oaks, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Calabasas.) Teaching complimentary classes has given me the opportunity to meet new students and share my practice. More importantly, I am of service. All of the stores have also allowed me to advertise my upcoming workshops, retreats, and specialty classes for free. What a great asset to my growing yoga business.
I have spoken to the employees of Lululemon and they love their jobs. Why? Because the company has employees set goals for all aspects of their lives. Their training is not only to know the clothes inside out, they get life training as well. I love supporting a company who encourages their employees to give greater attention to themselves on all levels. Isn’t that awesome? Let’s face it, on a daily basis we hear about how deceitful corporations have become. The values of Lululemon are refreshing.
As a yogi, connecting with a clothing store may seem superficial at first. As you will learn, Lululemon serves a much deeper purpose. Aligning yourself with Lululemon is great way to tap into all of your desires. Yoga, shopping, and meeting new people to name a few!
Yoga Tip:
You may ask me, “Cindi, are you getting paid by Lululemon to write this article?” Nope, I am simply giving a shout out and showing gratitude to an aspect of the LA yoga community that has helped me grow as a yoga teacher and a fashionista. If you catch yourself complaining, shift gears and give thanks to someone/something that has brought you bliss.
